GPTGTA

A playable top-down GTA-style browser sandbox built through GPT-driven coding.

To the best of my knowledge, GPTGTA is one of the first public GPT-native top-down GTA-style browser sandboxes.

GPTGTA is a solo experiment in LLM-native game development: browser-native HTML/CSS/JS, retro top-down crime sandbox mechanics, mobile controls, a board editor, custom tilesets, stealable vehicles, pedestrians and collision systems.

Every public build below is playable from the version archive. v1.2 is intentionally omitted because its movement controls were broken.

Positioning note

GPTGTA documents a GPT/ChatGPT-driven workflow for building a retro top-down crime sandbox in the browser. The claim is intentionally careful: this is not presented as a legal or academic proof of absolute priority, but as public documentation of a working prototype and development direction.

Safe claim: “GPTGTA is a playable top-down GTA-style browser sandbox built through GPT/ChatGPT-driven prompting and vibecoding.”

Independent project disclaimer

GPTGTA is not affiliated with Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, Grand Theft Auto, GTA, or DMA Design. It is an independent GPT-built top-down crime sandbox experiment inspired by early top-down open-world games and retro browser game development.
